Farewell, Adieu, Sayonara, auf Wiedersehen, hasta la vista, Shalom

I'm home again after my reunion in Nebraska. This is the scene of the cemetery near Omaha, Nebraska where my great-great grandparents are buried. Doesn't this look like a scene from a western movie?
I decided over this past week that it is time for me to close my blog. It's been two years since I started. I'm going to be traveling, without computer, this summer and so there'll be no way for me to do this site service.
There's such a wonderful feeling of community that arises in this dailycityphoto blogging world. I will miss it and so will come by to see what you're seeing and will likely leave you messages too.
I send you wishes for the best of everthing, each and every one of you. You have been very dear to me.

Let's go fly a kite, Up to the highest height!
Update: The tornado Thursday night missed me and mine but did some damage around town. You can read about it here in the New York Times if you want to.

On a lovely spring day, I watched these two flying their kites. All the while I was singing, from Mary Poppins, Let's Go Fly A Kite,
"With tuppence for paper and strings
You can have your own set of wings
With your feet on the ground
You're a bird in a flight
With your fist holding tight
To the string of your kite"
And suddenly their kites tangled in the sky and came crashing down. I stopped singing and they started untangling.
I'll be gone for the next four days. I'm off to a family reunion in Nebraska. I'll see you when I return on Tuesday.

What this Arkansawyer ate for dinner last night

Many days when I visit Buffalo Dickdy's blog I come away hungry. He cooks the most wonderful meals and seems to be generous about inviting people to eat. Believe me, if I lived nearby, I'd drop by his house around 6 p.m. every day.
He inspired me to show what we had here for dinner last night, a skillet meal of marinated pork chops with onions, cabbage and apple. It's much simpler fare than he makes but it was tasty and healthy and filled us up nicely.
I'm wondering, what did you eat?

Take Down Love

When I saw this tree trunk and vine, I first thought of wrestling. Then I thought of Smokey Robinson's song, You Really Got a Hold On Me (also sung by the Beatles). What does this bring to mind for you?

Show and Tell

Here's a question from the Sample Practice Forestry Test, Arkansas Envirothon:
"The growths, on the roots of a cypress tree, that protrude above the surface of the ground or the water in which it is growing are referred to as _____.
A. cloroplasts B. gallinues C. coniferous D. knees"
Can you answer it?
If you chose D, you were correct. See them in the water, around the cypress tree?
